Since 2013 the Community Foundation of the Northern Shenandoah Valley has served as the fiscal agent for the Chain of Checks, an idea that started in 1986 when morning radio announcer Barry Lee of WINC 92.5 FM asked listeners to send in Christmas cards to decorate the studio and include one dollar for CCAP. Since then, Chain of Checks has raised nearly      $1.4 million for community nonprofits. Chain of Checks is a year-long, community fundraising effort that culminates in a two-day radiothon at 92.5 WINC FM. The 2020 campaign will benefit Winchester’s CCAP organization to address hunger and food insecurity in our community.
