How to Give

Online

You can donate to an existing fund online. Simply use our Fund Search or Fund List by Type options to find the fund to which you wish to donate. Then click on that fund name to see a description and access the donation form.  You may also donate to an annual campaign (Chain of Checks or Coats for Kids) or to a supported organization (Nonprofit Alliance or Sustainability Matters).  An online gifts to the CFNSV Operations Fund will help us continue to grow and work toward a better community.   Review our “Where to Give” page to explore your giving options online.

Check

You may also donate by mail. Send a check made payable to CFNSV to our mailing address:

Community Foundation of the Northern Shenandoah Valley
P.O. Box 2391
Winchester, VA 22604

Identify the fund(s) to which you are donating in the memo or on an enclosed note. Please include your contact information so that we can provide a receipt (your donations are tax deductible) and contact you if there are any questions.

Stocks

You may also gift shares of stock to an existing fund or create a new fund with a stock gift.  Let us know when you make a stock transfer, so that we know how to use this donation to meet your charitable goals.  Learn more about stock donations.

IRA Distributions

If you are 70½ years of age or older, you can take tax-free withdrawals from your IRA if the money goes directly to a charity, this include many Community Foundation funds, but does not include donor-advised funds. Read more about making charitable gifts from your IRA.

Planned Gifts

You may make a donation to an existing fund or create a new fund as part of your financial or estate plan.  These planned gifts may include bequests, stock, IRA and retirement plan assets, Life Insurance, Charitable Gift Annuities, Charitable Lead or Remainder Trusts or Real Estate.  We always recommend you consult with your professional advisor to determine how best to meet your charitable and financial goals.  Learn more about planned giving.
