List of Funds

A fund within the Community Foundation of the Northern Shenandoah Valley reflects each donor’s charitable vision. As a donor, you have the opportunity to name your fund, design its distribution restrictions and choose the level of involvement you wish when it comes to making grant recommendations.

Listed below are the funds currently held by CFNSV, listed by type of fund. You can also see and alphabetical listing of funds and search our fund listing using keywords by clicking here.  We hope you will consider making a gift to one of these existing funds or establishing a new one to serve your own charitable vision.

To make a donation online, simply click on a fund to see a description and access the donation form.

Agency funds are established by a nonprofit for the benefit of the nonprofit.  Agency funds can be endowed or non-endowed.  Only the nonprofit can donate directly to an agency fund.  All other donations must be made to the nonprofit with a request for the donation to benefit their agency fund.

 

Designated funds are established by a donor for the benefit of a specific nonprofit(s).  Designated funds are endowed.  Anyone can donate directly to a designated fund. 

 

Donor Advised funds are established by a donor to provide flexibility in selecting grant recipients. They can be endowed or non-endowed. Anyone can donate directly to a donor advised fund.  

 

The Board of Directors of the Community Foundation determines who will receive grants from unrestricted funds.  They are endowed funds.  Anyone can donate directly to an unrestricted fund.
